I do mini blinis with soft cheese topped with smoked salmon and/or Lidl's fake caviar or with cucumber, diced red peppers for the vegetarians. I am always amazed at the way others are amazed at something so simple!

Think I have a recipe for blini somewhere - not the traditional recipe (which takes ages) but it was very nice and can be done beforehand as the cooked blini freeze beautifully.
This one is fairly similar: https://www.dovesfarm.co.uk/recipes/blini

Really easy starter is mini mediterranean tarts: get some ready rolled puff pastry cut into little square, roll edge over to size of 1/2 centimetre then pop some pesto, slice of tomato and grated cheese on and bake.
Alternatively, vol au vents are a good one and pretty light too. You could do prawn for meat eaters and cheese, broccoli and leek in a white sauce for veggies2 -
Hi
Spendless, I take my hat off to you. I hope these young people realise how lucky they are to have you as their guardian angel !
In terms of Christmas Dinner personally I always think it's such a large meal I'm not convinced you need a starter we tend to do a brunch of smoked salmon & scrambled eggs at lunch time and Christmas Dinner at 5ish.
If you do a starter could I suggest a platter of salamis, olives, dips etc or nachos. If you're not careful you end up creating a massive amount of work and you don't enjoy Christmas.

Do the veggie ladies eat eggs? If so how about devilled eggs as a starter, can also go on a buffet style meal and can be done the day before.£71.93/ £180.001
