Persimmon head office have unofficially agreed to wait for us, as long as we complete by the end of September which buys us 5 weeks! Our solicitor says it's doable, as long as there are no unforeseen delays in the chain (searches, etc). So I'm staying hopeful - for now!1 -

Never make any assumptions. Even during lockdown, I would have contacted the estate agent and solicitor on a weekly basis for an update.fluffybanana said:As far as I knew, all transactions were ticking over nicely in the background. I'm surprised that Persimmon are allowing people to exchange and complete on the same day as many other developers expect people to exchange but with a COVID rider which allows you to get out if you lose job, mortgage offer, etc with full return of deposit.
Personally, I would never exchange and complete on the same day.0
