The NEW Staples Clearance Thread (Look for the £xx.91 prices!) IN STORE ONLY!

Following on from last year's thread, which I started on 20th November 2006 and lasted for 238 posts and 38776 reads...

:D I SMELL A NEW STAPLES CLEARANCE STARTING :D

Doesn't seem to be quite as extensive as last year yet, but here are a few to be going on with:

TomTom 710 SatNav: Reduced to £159.91 - seems to be a national reduction with pre-printed SEL. Unbeatable price for this model?? Includes full European and Canary Islands maps.

Various Navman 'F' and 'N' models at big discounts £xx.91

SmartDisk 250GB SOHO NAS Drive: £49.91....only 250GB for £50 you say??? YES, but this is a NAS Drive and it works with Vista (I grabbed one myself and can confirm this). Try getting any other 250GB NAS drive for under approx £90 :D

MORE TO FOLLOW I HOPE - DIDN'T HAVE MUCH TIME TO LOOK TODAY!

I've got one and apart from the 4GB single file size limit, I can't see any drawbacks.

Negative reviews are always more often left than positive ones.

Or, for another perspective, would you buy a games machine which has a terminal failure rate of upto 35% within 12-18 months??? That'll be an Xbox 360 then...

Hmm, you might be hard pressed to find a NAS that uses NTFS....NTFS is a microsoft technology and as most NAS's are based on some form of Linux NTFS is out of the question (IIRC Linux can read NTFS but is not perfect at writing it).

I bought a Maxstor NAS in a "some time ago" Staples sale - can't NTFS either, but (a) it's still working, and (b) does the "print server thing" with 2 USB printers.

Sure I saw the Smartdisk already reduced to £109.91 a couple of weeks ago, sounds like one of yer "no brainers" for £50. Bear in mind that any NAS drive will be slower than a USB2, but probably more useful if you have a few pooters.
