Mandatory COVID-19 PCR testing by Airlines ie Etihad, Emirates etc

I am currently trying to find out how best to get a refund for the a covid test from Emirates that I did before travelling. Emirates insisted I take the test before depature then cancelled the flight four seperate times. I had to pay for the test but it was null and void after the cancellations. I ended up returning with another airline who did not require a test on exit.
Am I entitled to a refund for the covid test from Emirates?I contacted them and they said no. My insurance company said its Emirates who should pay.
