Zero standing charge gas or?
Hi,
Currently on Ebico zero for gas which is coming to an end. House is a work in progress so no gas usage yet, hence the zero standing charge tariff. Are there any zero standing charge gas tariffs around? Would changing the gas meter to prepay be of any benefit or is there still a standing charge on that? House is a self build so won't be using gas anytime soon but do need the gas live, I think, so gas pipes can be installed in the house and checked for leaks. No smart meter and don't want one, at least until I get heating controls installed because there is a risk the smart meter comms will interfere with the controls, so I want the controls in first and a smart meter second or never.
Suggestions please.
Thanks

I think the answer is no, but 10p a day is available, hopefully that'll get lost in the noise of other costs! Good luck with the build.0

The cost of switching to a PPM and then back to a credit meter 6m later would far outweigh the standing charge cost.No free lunch, and no free laptop

10p/day from who? Lowest I can find at the moment is £4-5 pm so much the same as Ebico at £52 pa minimum cost.

OutFox The Market. In my opinion a dodgy bunch I wouldn't use, but when needs must! The next cheapest in my area was Neo at 12.67p and I've never heard of them!!malc_b said:10p/day from who? Lowest I can find at the moment is £4-5 pm so much the same as Ebico at £52 pa minimum cost.2 -
Thanks Talldave. OFTM comes in a 15.75p/day for me, £57 pa, so Ebico £52 is cheaper. I'll see what Neo do, when they answer.

Just fire 1kWh into a site like Citizens Advice compare tool.
I'm amazed that OFTM's standing charge is nearly 60% more for a different region.2 -
Seconded!Talldave said:

Dodgy ol' OutFox.0 -
I hate DSCs. I had to leave Ebico due to the adding of 'Minimum Spend' on the gas, it was £104 a year, they halved to £52 per annum. Still too much to switchback. Had it been on the leccy I wouldn't left (Bulb). Ebico dropped their Green Zero no DSCs tariff late 2018.malc_b said:Hi,Currently on Ebico zero for gas which is coming to an end. That's how I came to meet OutFox.
I'm always looking for zero DSC's, but sadly Ebico has ceased trading as Nottingham City Council sold Robin Hood Energy to British Gas.
The only other zero dsc's tariff is with Utilita, but you need a Smart metre.
Then it's 30pence of a unit of leccy & 60p for a unit of gas, for the first two unit rates each day. Both unit rates are competitive, being nice, afterwards. But you can't use hardly any gas, as you lose!
I've just switched from Bulb to Avro, saved £40 a year, annual bill £360.1
