Hi all
we have a 3 bedsemi - simple pitched roof no fancy bits and are looking to get it reroofed, quotes are very different wondered if anyone had advice?
Quote 1 is from a roofer the roughcaster recommended as one of the best he’s worked with, comes in at £5500 - thats the full reroof, soffits, facia, new back gutter, vents, tidy up of existing bits like swan neck, scaffold skip etc. The guy mentioned labour costs of £2000 for the job. Says he can do the full job with his team in 2 days in between his other jobs he has lined up to get it done sooner for me as he doesn’t normally work weekends. He said I might get a cheaper quote but he uses the best materials and doesn’t know how other roofers make a profit with some quotes. Roughcaster is local and has huge number 5* reviews very trusted coming in at £3300 for full roughcast inc covering my window ledges with pvc.
Quote 2 is from a roofer roughcaster who are doing one a few doors down (and its a beautiful looking job!) says he can do the roof for just £3900, wasn’t quite as detailed as the other guy about breakdown of costs (I know his sons work with him) but appeared very knowledgeable and like I said the job looks good. He could do my roof and roughcast for £6900 together if I wait til next year.
So basically I can go with the separate roofer / roughcaster (checked both companies out both legit got reviews on various sites etc) and pay more, or wait 6 months and go with the other company (also legit) and save some money. Its a difference of £2k - I am aware expensive isn’t always best, but also is cheap too cheap?!
Thanks in advance for any insight!
