I had 2 defaults drop off on the 28th July how long will it take for my credit score to improve?

Possibly never. But it doesn't matter.
Lenders will view you more positively once the defaults are gone.0 -
The credit score and rating are not seen or used by any UK financial institution, it's the credit history they see and use when assessing applications.

As above ignore your score as it's not seen by lenders. Focus instead on your credit history.
I'd wait until your next credit reports are generated to verify that they are gone before even considering applying for more credit but apart from that, the change is pretty much instant. If a lender were to search your file after the defaults are removed then they'll never even know they were there in the first place and will assess you as such.0 -
