Brought forward holidays

I have 10 ten holidays brought forward from the last holiday year. To cut a long story short I was furloughed in June and part of the furlough package was that accrued holidays would have to be taken during the furlough period and I have received an additional payment of each month to top up the furloughed pay to the full pay I would have been paid during normal times. So all well and good.

I have since been made redundant and serving my notice period (on furlough) and now my employers are suggesting that the brought forward holidays are to be paid in the same way as the holidays accrued in the current holiday year.

My question is that surely if holidays were accrued prior to the furlough scheme being in existence, they should be paid in full and in addition to my furloughed pay. Otherwise, in my opinion, the company will be reclaiming money back from the Government for a pay period prior to the existence of the furlough scheme, which as I understand it is not legal.

Any ideas? I've trawled the web and can find nothing.

You can do nothing about this, they have done nothing wrong.  What difference does it make to you? What you are essentially saying is that you want advice to help you raise a grievance over something that does not impact you financially in order to try and force your employer, who kept you employed, who now has had to make the sad decision to make redundancies (probably to survive) pay more than they need to?  Bitter and petty and more importantly........Pointless

That's because there isn't anything. Lots of people have been told to take holidays they are due during furlough. It doesn't matter when those holidays accrued. You should get 100% of your pay and won't be at work. They do have to give sufficient notice (twice the length of the holiday unless your contract of employment says otherwise).
  • Thank you Jeremy for your constructive comment, even if it isn't what I want to hear.  :)

I did answer your question, you just didn’t want to hear it.  I wish you luck and I am genuinely sorry that you face redundancy.

You didn't answer my question at all. For some bizarre reason you got on your high horse and spouted a load of rubbish. People come on here for help. If you don't want to help don't bother replying.
