EasyJet hub closures: impact on travel questions

Hi folks,
It wasEwas widely reported yesterday announced that EasyJet will thier hubs in Newcastle, Southend and Stansted. Also reported was no further flights out of Southend after September.
Just my luck in booked to fly from southend in October. There's been no news directly from EasyJet. Am I able to begin the pursuit of a refund now or will I have to wait?

EasyJet have just cancelled my September flights and the message said they are cancelling 30 days before departure.
