Why did you assume a short stay was free?

Thats an error on your part and you now have to deal with the consequences, no?
That's how usually is with supermarket and fast food joints, so I don't see why restaurant wouldn't offer free short stay for customers, unless a lot of people exploit it in the area. But that's irrelevant now, you have right - I'm looking for a best and cheapest way to deal with consequences.. Nothing wrong in that, right?
Because a restaurant car park isn’t a supermarket or fast food car park?

    You just made assumptions
    As have you!

Plenty of restaurants, supermarkets AND fast food outlets share the same car park, the fast food outlet near me DOES allow free short stays to collect food but many have been 'caught out' by parking just a few spaces outside of the poorly signed 'designated' area.
Maybe people should look for and read said signage then before making assumptions?

If only it were that simple! maybe it is and all the people who post on this section (THE BUSIEST BY A LONG STRETCH) should have 'just' looked for and read the signage, go figure.

Yeah, I started reading on the newbies forum, so far I'm in over my head since I never had to deal with something similar, and I'm trying to understand all the paperwork I'll need prepare.

So far I can either go for consent or non consent set aside. I don't think I stand a good chance of defending my case in court and getting fees covered, so I should probably  try to get a consent set aside with ParkingEye, now I just need to figure out what forms I need to fill and what to write to them to get it satisfied.

I don't know if letters did come in or no, but at the moment of judgment I was living at a different address for 6 month and only recently returned to my old adress (I have council bills to prove that). I didn't update my v5 though. I'm not aware of all the details either so I I'll ring the court first thing tomorrow to ask to what address the letters were sent and what dates, and details of the case. Also getting SAR from ParkingEye private page as well, or I shoudnt do that?

Email them - no forms needed yet:

    enforcement@parkingeye.co.uk

...and tell them your new address and that they failed to take reasonable steps to trace you before issuing the claim, which you have never received even when checking with your old address.  You have just discovered the CCJ and will be applying to have it set aside so what terms will they agree to and can they please provide their standard form of consent to assist the smooth resolution of this dispute.

Do they answer to any reasonable email? If no reply within 2-3 weeks should I assume they ignored it and continue with set aside without consent?

Did you give them a time limit to respond - say, seven days?

Prompt them once more and ask for their consent to set aside.

Forward your last email so they can see you already asked for this.

Then crack on by Friday with a £255 set aside if they are silent.

No one said give them 2-3 weeks. 1 week max. Then you go with no consent.
You cannot waste time on this.

No, I didn't set a time limit. I remember seeing they respond in 21 days to queries through their website (If I'm not mistaken). I'll give 1 week and then I'll do what Coupon-mad suggested giving then extra 3 days and start getting ready for no consent set aside.

For no consent I'll need N244 and witness statement written by me, that i didn't get a claim notice and therefore couldn't defend myself?

Yes, as seen on umpteen zillion other threads the exact same. Copy them and their DRAFT ORDER too.
