Paint peeling off

Hello

I have had today my first attempt at painting and it has been disaster so far. As soon as I put paint off it started peeling off. Any ideas why? I put it on previously painted wall. I also cleaned the wall day before.

That wall was likely not mist coated; it's not what you've done wrong, but what was done wrong when the room was first painted.

Ideally you would scrape the paint off back to plaster, mist coat, and then repaint.  I had the same problem in one room in our new place so I feel your pain.

    I recommend one of these.

Great. I know what to do now.

Unfortunately another wall another problem. My fresh paint looks like below. I cant see plaster so I guess this is something else.

    Any suggestions pls?

When you washed the walls, did you use sugar soap or a similar product to cut through and remove the grease?  Did you rub the walls down after washing?  The second wall looks like the paint is being spread too thin and also you are painting over grease.  What paint are you using?

I am using Dulux emulsion paint.
I have cleaned the walls with sugar soap but I didnt rub the walls down.

What do I need to do now to fix it and avoid similar issues in the future?

im guessing on the second wall it had either wall paper on it or lining paper because thats the classic look of wallpaper paste still on the wall and its been painted straight over without it being cleaned off

op - you need to scrape off the paste , sugar soap the wall to death and then rub it down, that should sort you out
on the 1st wall you are going to have to scrape off the paint and apply a mist coat then two top coats, none of this is your fault its whoever did the job before you
