Paid furlough, holidays and salary

For the past month I have been working full time with no holidays. But on my wage I’ve received a full pay of my working salary, a full 80% of furlough pay and holiday pay. As it’s like two months wages in one I have been taxed a lot. Is the company entitled to claim money back?

If your employer has paid you too much by mistake then they definitely can ask you to pay back what you received in error. If you pay too much tax you'll get it back from HMRC, if it isn't corrected by your employer over the subsequent months of this tax year.0

It’s not that they’ve paid me too much, my salary is correct. They’ve paid me furlough which I shouldn’t have received. Can they claim this back as it’s from the government?0

No, because you were working and therefore could not be furloughed. The furlough payment is an error that will be recovered from you when they spot it, and your tax will be adjusted too. If they make a claim for it from HMRC, it should be rejected.0

Your payslip saying furlough doesn't automatically mean they've claimed money from the government for you, it could be an error made by the person who does your company's payroll, such as wrongly adding a line on your payslip or giving you money which another employee should have got. I know my employer once added an additional payment to one person in the company when it should have in fact gone to someone else with the same first name.loudaisy987 said:It’s not that they’ve paid me too much, my salary is correct.
