After a long battle. I've finally been awarded PIP. Enhanced for both it's such a relief. I do have a quick question of anyone can help. I've been told I can claim a disability premium on my ESA I'm currently in the support group. How would I do that and would it be backdated to date of my pip claim. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Firstly, you must be claiming Income Related ESA, live along (or classed as living alone) if living with other adults they must also be claiming a qualify benefit benefit such as PIP daily living/DLA mid/high rate care or Attendance Allowance, or be registered blind. No one must be claiming carers allowance or the carers element of Universal Credit for looking after you.If you're claiming New style ESA then the premiums are not paid on this. The Enhanced disability premium is automatically paid when in the Support Group claiming Income Related.

Thanks for the advice this applys to me will this be added automatically or will I have to make a phone call I'm really not looking forward to interacting with the dwp again after the last year.0

It's not automatically awarded because of the criteria. You need to ring DWP/ESA to apply over the phone. It's a very simple form, just ask to fill out the IS10 form. If you qualified at the start of your PIP award then it's backdated. If your PIP award was from a Tribunal then you'll need to wait until the award is in payment before applying.
