How to sell my car?
Apologies for being a bit ignorant, but I haven't sold a car for years and I don't know the best way to do this now.
I have a 56 plate Lexus LS460 - 62.7K miles, FSH from main dealer. The car is in good condition with the exception of: -
- Tyre pressure system not working (After servicing it'll be fine for a couple of months - I've been told that one of the sensors needs replacing)
- External boot release not working (although internal switch and boot close switch are OK)
- Annoyingly the front centre parking sensor has started playing up in the last couple of weeks.
What advertising sites would people recommend me to use? Also, what discount do you think I ought to make to the sale price to take into account the things that are not working. Thanks in advance...

I would list on Autotrader, look at the other 18 L460's for sale at the moment nationally. Maybe classified ebay advert.
Pitch yours with an honest description. Doesn't matter what "discount" you give them on the advertised price, you will always get the chancers looking at low offers or making lower offers. Top tip, I have NEVER sold a car to someone who messages me "whats your final price" as an opening question.0 -
Hello OP
As the other said, look on websites for similar mileage, colour, owners and the main dealer service history and I
recommed you try those we but cars sites for a idea of the money you will get and desrbice your car honestly as you have here and then decide if its worth the hassel, risk etc of selling priavtl, and consider advertising costs, time wasters and frauds - looks as though you have a nice car and someone with a bit of know how will easily repair it.
btw, dont let go o your car until you have money in the bank or your hand other than we by car palces and rember, if a potential buyer wants to drive, are they insured fully as if any accident, you may come unstuck and don't take their work for it they are insured and or not banned.

When we went from 2 cars to one, we took mine round several local garages, who were reselling cars in a similar ball park, and sold it to the one who offered the most.
Yes, we didn't get top top dollar, as we knew they'd want to make some resale profit, but it was hassle free and they sent the money by bank transfer.
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.98% of current retirement "pot" (as at end April 2025)0 -

Great advice! Many thanks to all - I shall start investigating local dealers and check out the ads online for similar cars. Thanks again.1
