I got one today and it really was convincing enough right up to the point where it said "Dear Client".
I am posting this just to reinforce the warnings that are out already, if you get one of these telling you that you need to renew your direct debit because a payment has been missed, DON'T click on ANY of the links contained in the email, even the one for reporting scam emails.

A useful heads up. However, I cancelled both TV Licence (poll tax) and DD so it would be ignored and deleted anyway.

Just received one, they use the same photos as the official email and its very very convincing. I do think there's going to be quite a few fall for this.0

never had an official email off them either - no reason for them to have any of my email addresses0

I've had one too, looks convincing at first sight esp on my mobile phone. Stated that my DD had expired. On the laptop the sent from address was clearly wrong and so was the supposed licence number they quoted. I normally would just have deleted it without reading it but I double checked my online tv licence account as I changed the bank account it came from a few months ago and I wondered if there had been a problem.0

One reason I really hate that most of the email clients seem to prefer the nickname or correspondent,
Thunderbird needs a plugin to show the senders email address. OK not a foolproof method but it
removes the lazy scammers who cannot spoof their sender data. Changing the nickname is just
too easy.
Its a quick and easy check to see if its something to throw away instantly, I have not seen many really
good attempts at scams in my inbox. The better ones will have faked sender data also. Those I do
read to see if they put the same effort into the email contents.
