Problems applying for credit card(s)

Options
hi,
For many yrs i have always paid off my credit card balances, and with whats gone on the last few months ive built up a balance on my current card as i was minimising my outgoings from my current account. I used to have a barclaycard, but this was closed last yr as it had not been used, so i thought id apply to them again.
I might add prior to the application, i double checked my credit score which was 660/710- excellent.
Applied, pre approved, got the card with a £200 limit until i confirmed proof of income.

Im a director of a small limited company,so what i earn varies and i dont have payslips.

I provided the last 3 mths bank statements as requested, each time after 5 days getting a bounce back that the info provided was not good enough as it disnt show my name address (it most definitely did). Ive now uploaded these docs 3 times, each time after days the same email back. Ive spent over an hour on the phone, speaking to 3 different people, none of which could help or give me an email or contact who could help. I went to a branch, they scanned and sent off the same documents, and 1 week later i have sent a secure message to them on my account and they are still saying the docs provided does not show my name and address (IT DOES!!)
In despair and anger, i checked on here and as i have an account with natwest, done an elgibility check which said my chances of acceptance were good, 95 % success rate. Did the application, and as soo  as i pressed complete it said i was not approved for the card!! Ive rechecked my credit rating, and its still at excellent, so whats the problem?

All these cards are advertising interest free balance transfers, but if i cant get one with a good rating then who can?

The problem is that your pretend credit score from Equifax isn't a factor in lending. You need to check the data on your three files to ascertain what issues there may be. Not the scores.

Your existing debt is certainly going to be a limiting factor.
  • I had the same - £200 limit but updated to £3500 limit after I uploaded payslips & statements. Mine was fine I suppose because my payslips tallied with the bank credits.

As you'll have 45 days - just order some payslips based on your income receipt in the bank for the last 3 months. They'll come via email in a day or two then upload to Barclaycard thing.

This is one of the better places to get them - https://www.payslipsonline.co.uk/

I'm not suggesting you lie, just get payslips that tally with your declared income. Loads do it (self employed etc).
