I'm not Fred but have fixed air-con. First check the pressure at the LP port; top up if necessary. Check all contacts and relays. just standard debug stuff.oldagetraveller1 said:How would you "fix" a non operating aircon system Fred?Hopefully you have the correct equipment at hand to do a "much better job"?

Standard for everyone ? Or those with mechanical know how and the right equipment. And after you find the pressure ok and all contacts ok. What thenEdGasketTheSecond said:

many people just don’t want to do it even if they know how0 -
Maybe the ad said that it had air-con, but not "working" air-con.?
In that it had all the components in place for an air-con system, rather that not having air-con fitted at all. Because who ever retro fits air-con??
Devils hat on!!😈How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
If that ad says it had air con, it should have been workingSea_Shell said:Maybe the ad said that it had air-con, but not "working" air-con.?

If the ad mentioned it having aircon without stating that it needed attention, the average person would assume that it was functional. If i didn't mention it but a customer noticed an A/C button, but didn't test it, it might well be different.2

Also not everyone has a set of gauges or electrical testing equipment or access to them.If a top up is found necessary, where has the gas gone if not through normal wasteage if a large top up is required? One could always refer to Youtube!0 -
oldagetraveller1 said:One could always refer to Youtube!Where there are loads of videos of people swapping out leaking condensers, replacing expansion valves and regassing the systems themselves (some with butane)
I'm fairly confident a blocked expansion valve is what is wrong with mine, but Renault Nissan made very difficult to change, and as it can only be pump debris blocking it (which will be all over the system now ready to block it again) I haven't bothered.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Well obviously when you find the fault, you fix it; I really didn't expect to have to spell that out.oldagetraveller1 said:EdGasketTheSecond said:

The ones, I have fixed have been:
Low pressure
Corroded contacts
Faulty relay1 -
Doesn't get past the point that without knowledge and the correct equipment, fixing it is not a viable optionEdGasketTheSecond said:
