Im on a card and key for my gas and electric meter and have recently changed supplier now I’m getting a final bill from my old supplier I don’t understand how this works has i use a card and key

Read it. It will probably be just a summary along the lines of you've spent this much on topups, and used this amount of energy,

You could have been paying off debt as well as your energy use, so that will still have to be paid off. This can happen if you were switched to pre-payment because you hadn't been paying your credit bills in full.Other possibilities include not topping up (e.g. because of very little usage of usage of gas in the summer but the ongoing daily charge kept adding up and wiped out the remaining credit) or inheriting a debt by using a previous occupier's old card.1
