Credit note and travel agent prices

Morning, We book a holiday through holiday USA for June 2020. Due to covid we decided to postpone to 2021. We all paid £100 deposit, a few of the group paid the full amount straight away. The holiday company would not refund what was part paid by some of the group but agreed to give a credit note. Now we are looking to rebook for next year, HolidayUSA are looking to charge us £250 more per person than if we booked the flight and hotel separately with BA and the hotel and £150 more than is showing on their website. They are saying as it was a good will gesture for the credit note they will not price match and that their charges are higher due to ATOL protection. We have ATOL protection with last years holiday and it was cheaper to book with Holiday USA than separate flights and accommodation. Need some ideas of where we stand.
