Hi All,
As the schools reopen in 2 weeks for all their pupils, I am wondering if it is a good idea to let the children travel on public transport at the moment?
My daughters will be going to school on train and it is an hour's journey and they need to change 1 train in between, what I am worried about is, no matter how much you ask them to be careful, they will still be on their phones, who knows touching what and what not.
I can pick and drop them from school for the first few weeks, but it will take around 2 hours of my day. I would like to know people who are travelling on public transport and who have their kids going to school on them, what are you thinking of doing about this from Sept?

You obviously know how they will behave, assuming they are in England and presumably over 11 years of age they will be required to wear a face mask or covering throughout their journey in each direction for the protection of others, are they mature enough in attitude and behaviour to do that? Can you travel with them for the first week to see what it is like?
  • What what can they do?  Other than drum into them the need to wear the mask, not touch anything they don’t need to, distance as much as they can and arm them with hand gels.   Being on phone shouldn’t affect the mask wearing.

No magic solution to the problem- just good common sense.

You have to assess how much risk is acceptable.
If it is public transport then it depends on hos the rest of the public behave whether she can socially distance.  W ehave sen pictures of crowded trains.
      Are  the trains normally busy?
Does your daughter go out with friends? Do they socially distance when together?
Only you know how  well she will stick to the guidelines.
Make sure she has hand sanitiser she can use.
