B&Q Kitchen Wall Cabinet Issue

Hi
We recently purchased kitchen cabinets & doors from B&Q, which my husband installed - He is a very experienced diyer.
However, less than a month after installation a door "fell off" one of the wall units. I closed the door and it just fell off!
Unfortunately, this has not only left us with a damaged door & wall unit, but the door also took a good chunk out of our brand new worktop on its descent. (Worktop not supplied by B&Q)
I have raised the issue with B&Q and there most recent response included -
"...our quality team...have advised that they can't see any issues with the mounting plates. they also believe that the screw were over tightened and over tigthening can 'chew' into the chipboard compromising the fixing."
and they will "replace the wall unit and door as a goodwill gesture"
I have responded to say that I do not accept that this is "our fault" and I am currently awaiting their return email to provide me with an ADR letter which I believe I can take to the Furniture ombudsman (i was advised to ask for this by Citizens Advice Bureau)
I would be very grateful for any shared experiences of similar issues or if anybody is able to offer some advice in how to proceed with this matter.
Many thanks in advance

Get a kitchen fitter to report on why it failed, if they say the cabinet was faulty b&q will be liable.2

Have they inspected the damaged unit in person or from photos? Can you post photos here for us to look at? You might get a view on the DIY forum. It does sound plausible that it's your husband's fitting error, but without seeing the bracket, the cupboard and the wall I can't tell. It sounds like they've acted quickly to replace the unit, so I don't know what you expect the ombudsman to do?msoerfc said:Hi

Thats what content insurance is for,how will you convince B+Q that you didnt drop a hammer on the worktop.

The newer Bnq ranges (when I say new it's been this way for the last 12 months since we purchased)photome said:why did it fall

You attach the bracket to the inside of the cabinet and then the door clips into it with a quick release latch at the back of the hinge. Takes a couple of seconds to take a door off by pressing the lever at the back of the hinge.
If it's just the door that came off there's potential that it wasnt clipped in properly but if it's taken the bracket too sound like something else that's caused the issue.0 -
I have B nd Q quick release hinges as you describe. Like you say if not clipped on properly that could cause the issue, hopefully the OP will clarifyForwandert said:
