Parkdean cancelled break

Hello,
I had a holiday booked with Parkdean Holidays.
The final balance was due on Monday 10th August. However I was not aware of this as I had not received the original confirmation of this. I was due to call and chase for my confirmation, however when I tried, the lines were a nightmare to get through.
I had the money ready to pay.
I received an email on tuesday without any prompt / reminder / call to say they had cancelled my holiday due to non payment! How can they just cancel without contacting you. 
They are not refunding the money and are not getting back to me since I sent an email to customer relations. I just want to reinstated my holiday especially for my little boy!!
I was actually in hospital on the day payment was due also due to personal reasons!
Where do I stand with this?

May I ask, did this get resolved, holiday reinstated or refunded deposit?
