Energy/Power Meter.

In an attempt to persuade my moneywasting daughter to turn off her TV, Pc etc, I bought an energy/power meter from Makro yesterday.
It is a 'Proteam' Green power energy tracker.
So far, I have managed to set the time, but the rest of the instructions have me baffled.
It will let me set a Kwh price, but I am at a loss as to how to get it to register what an electrical item uses.
Has anyone else got one of these and managed to decipher the code.

I found many people are confused by the instructions and do not get the best from the meter. There must be quite a few of these meters gathering dust unused. I created some easier to understand instructions and added some information and tips for ease of use which are not provided in the original instructions. As a new member here I cannot post a link to the site but if you Google search the phrase - "elto ema1 power meter updated instructions" - you will find my updated instructions site in the first results.
The updated instruction manual contains important information not provided in the original manual which came with my device, and some useful tips to reduce frustration when operating the device for the first time. If you don't need to know everything under the sun, try the minimum instructions. To get started without setting up the device at all try the quick instructions.
For those that want to be sure you arrive in the right place - the actual url of the updated instructions site is: http, colon, forward-slash, forward-slash, sites, dot, google, dot, com, forward-slash, site, forward slash, ema1powermeter
I developed my instructions using an almost identical meter purchased in New Zealand. The basic user interface design is actually used by many other appliance energy meters and power boards with built in meters:
Jaycar Power Meter MS6115, Maplin N67HH, N67FU, N35HN, Energy Genie Appliance Power Meter, Energenie Plug in Powermeter. Watts Clever Plug-in Energy Monitor, Mort Bay Energy Saving Power Board. Ningbo KML / Nikkai KES02-01, KAS02-01, KFS02-01, KIS02-01, KSS02-01, KGS02-01, KSS01-01, KIS01-01, KGS01-01, KFS01-01, KES01-01, KAS01-01. Philex Ecopower 76942R Plug Through Energy Meter, Proteam Plug in Energy and Power Monitor, Power Accessories Plug in Power Meter/Monitor, Nikkai Plug-In Power, Energy and CO2 Meter, Brennenstuhl Eco-Line Technik 5 Way Plug Socket with Energy Meter, Eco-Line Technik energy meter EM 235, Power Strip with Energy Cost Meter. Lindy Energy Saving Power Meter. MPM01 Mains Power Meter. Pro-elec Energy Meter. Proteam Green Power Energy Tracker.
I have a comments section on the site mentioned above if anyone wishes to submit new information or exact model numbers and identifiers for similar meters.0 -
the long list of model numbers are there so that other people using similar meters will find this discussion when they search the forum. I could have explained that better...0

You're not allowed links in your signature. As far as I can tell, that's a link to a perpetual motion machine, and therefore just idiotic.Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0 -
Thanks for that....now I need to try and find the thing :think:Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0

When you do you will most likely need to replace the LR44/AG13 batteries. Wikipedia has an article listing other identifiers for the same battery type, but anything you see which is exactly the same battery package size will do the job.
Searching the forum it looks like you can get a bargain on a card of ten at Poundland.0
