sweetsand said:Our Land Rover Dsico was totalled many years ago - it was coming up to three years and a lorry ran into the back of it in static traffic on the M way in the first lane and pushed us up into the lorry in front - we had the car from new and it was written off and as we got a payout the insurance, remaining few months were written of as well as they had "paid out," is what I recall so poss insurance companies have changed their stance now. Some companies attempt to do this, usually the ones that charge £500 to insure a £1000 car with a £250 excess, so if you write it off on day #1, you are down £750, and have a claim against you (your own fault for not waiting until day #365).I read online that the Ombudsman had ruled that they had to offer continuation of cover now, but they sometimes claim they can't cover the replacement car, and/or set a short limit on how long you have to find a replacement (28 days from the date of the claim I think)
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
