Cancelled holiday but still need to make final payment?

I noticed online our hotel we booked for our holiday in October was closed for the season. After ringing Tui customer services they have confirmed this meaning our holiday is cancelled unless we rearrange. However customer services said I need to wait for cancellation team to contact me to apply for refund of our deposit and in the meantime need to make our final payment (of over £2000) which is due on Thursday. Why should I be forced to make this payment knowing the holiday is cancelled. Tui are not willing to help or extend the payment date infact they have put the phone down on me 3 times when I question them about why the date cannot be extended. I really don't know what to as if I pay the £2000, who knows when I will get it back? Will it be a credit note? So disappointed in the customer service from tui tbh.

First of all, where are you going and are you sure the actual 'holiday' has been cancelled, including flights? Most agents will first try to find alternative accommodation if the hotel booked is not available and reserve the right to do so (check the t's and c's) You don't have to accept this change if it isn't on a par by the way, but you do need to have paid the balance when it is due otherwise you forefit the amount as stated in the terms.
I think we need more info about the holiday you have booked. IF, hotel and flights cancelled NOW then it is wrong of TUI to ask or expect you to pay up more but have my suspicions that flights in October may still be scheduled to go ahead - up to now. Just check to see what the actual situation is.1 -
I am assuming this is a package holiday? Op It appears if you do not pay the balance, YOU are in effect cancelling the holiday. So you will lose.
My advice is pay the balance. Let them then cancel. You will get a refund credit voucher. Which you can then log on line with, to get total cash refund.
