Will I need to declare credit check failure?

On Friday last, I tried to open a British Gas account. I messed up on the previous addresses I gave (in good faith), and was told I’d failed the credit check so I had to reapply in 60 days, basically, computer said not! I instantly ran an Experian credit check on myself, it came back as 979 out of 999, I’ve no loans, no debts, never missed any payments in my life, I have a ‘healthy’ bank balance, and pay off my credit card every month without fail. My question is, if I’m ever asked ‘have you been refused credit’ would this count as it only came back negative because I messed up the info I was asked to provide, totally my fault. It was on an online chat on the British Gas website as trying to get through on the phone was hopeless! Thanks in advance!

Are you perhaps confusing it with insurers asking 'have you ever been refused insurance'?1 -
It’s just I’m quite proud of my credit record, and would hate this to go against me because I made a mistake.0

It matters about as much as your 979 score.
In other words not one tiny bit.2
