Title Deeds Help

Hi,
We bought a leasehold maisonette around a year and a half ago. At the time of sale, the sellers extended the lease and the extension was included in the sale.
I have just downloaded a copy of the title deeds from the land registry for an unrelated reason and have a query that I’m hoping someone more clued up than me can answer.

At the beginning of the document it shows correctly that myself and my partner are the registered owners, so no queries there.

Under the proprietorship register it also shows us as the proprietors, so again, no issues.

However, under the section marked property register, under the ‘short particulars of the lease’, it shows the former owners who extended the lease before selling to us, as the ‘parties’.

Is this standard, and just seems confusing to me as I’m not familiar with Title deeds, or is this incorrect and it should be our names here?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, it's standard. The Lease is always described as the "lease between Bloggs Builders Ltd and Jim Smith" (or whoever the original parties are). When the leasehold interest is sold ("assigned") to you, you step into Jim Smith's shoes and you're registered as the current proprietor of the leasehold interest. And similarly if the freehold interest changes hands. But there isn't a new lease.

Thank you! That puts my mind at rest 😊
