Just got an email from the Probate Registry which says this:

Thank you for your application. In order for us to progress your application further, please confirm the following information by replying by email to contactprobate@justice.gov.uk:

We require form IHT421 stamped by HM Revenue & Customs.

This form is normally sent directly to us (if the name of the Probate Registry was entered on the Probate Summary IHT421). If you receive this form for any reason please forward to the address below. Please can you quote your above case reference.

Principal Registry of the Family Division
HMCTS Probate
PO Box 12625
Harlow
CM20 9QE

Whern I sent off all the inheritance tax forms inc IHT400 I included IHT421 with them, should I have done something else?

Any thoughts welcome. Thanks!

I take it there was no IHT to pay?
When did you sent IHT and probate forms off?
It took 3 weeks for HMRC to send IHT 421 direct to Harlow Probate,  I had a letter dated 6 August to say that the 421 had been sent.  Probate was granted on the 12th and I got the grant on the 14th.
I take it you’ve had no info from HMRC?

Hi Vasquez65, no, no inheritance tax to pay. It took two weeks for them to confirm they received the forms, which they confdirmed in an email which arrived a few minutes before the email about IHT421. Do I have to do anything do you think?

You could forward the HMRC e-mail to the Probate Registry, which might make you feel better but won't actually accomplish anything! The answer, I'm afraid, is 'wait'.

Ah ok, I thought the email meant I had to do something but it seems not?!
