Missed payment on credit file

Good morning everyone. I have a problem which Im hoping someone has a bit of knowledge on. I have a 12 month £10/pm sim only deal from BT for my daughters mobile and about 2 months ago I cancelled the direct debit thinking that would cancel the whole thing because we have had it for well over the 12 months and hadn't signed up again so it was being paid on a rolling month to month basis. The problem is cancelling the direct debit didn't cancel the whole thing and I missed 1 payment. For some reason I hadn't seen the e mail reminders about this so was too late by the time I paid it. Now its on my credit file as a missed payment. Its really gutted me because Ive had a flawless report for years and years now and me and my partner are looking to get our first house this year and Im very worried this might throw a spanner in the works for a silly little £10 payment. Is there anything I can do and does anyone know how it will effect getting a mortgage?
Thanks for your time .

A missed payment will have little impact.
But never cancel a direct debit thinking it will cancel a contract. It 's like your boss sacking you by stopping your pay but not telling you that you no longer worked there.4 -
OK thanks a lot for your reply. Too true. Thinking back to it I realise how silly it was of me. The only reason I thought it would just cancel it is because I was out of the 12 month contract and it was rolling. Lesson learned. I was just really worried about the missed payment having an effect when it comes to getting a mortgage. Thanks againDeleted_User said:A missed payment will have little impact.

So hopefully you've now contacted BT and explained the situation? Sometimes companies will remove the late payment indicator from your credit file if you ask them nicely. (It worked for me anyway. Not with BT but another company, it's worth a try.)
I agree with zx81 that one missed payment won't affect things but it's annoying when you have a perfect history and then it's blemished! Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Thanks. I haven't contacted them yet because its down as a missed payment and not a late payment. After reading up on it for the last few days Ive noticed many people have contacted their creditors about late payments but no mention of missed ones. Do you think its still worth a go? I'll phone them tomorrow anyway just to see. Thank you.MalMonroe said:So hopefully you've now contacted BT and explained the situation? Well I phoned them earlier and they said they wouldn't do it so it looks like I'm stuck with it. Like the above poster said its so annoying when you've got a clean report but its my own silly fault I suppose. Just praying everyone is right and it doesnt effect anything. Thanks everyoneDeleted_User said:Late and missed payments are the same thing.0
