I recently adopted a new puppy, male labradoodle. It’s my first ever dog. My partner raised dogs growing up but it’s been a while so it’s quite new for us. I‘ve been boring my friends enough seeking advice, so I’m trying to sign up to online pet discussion forums. NONE of them will approve my requests to join. It seems really weird. I’m not sure what vetting (pardon the pun) I’m not getting through seeing as all that’s asked for is an email, username and password. I want to seek advice and share ideas but it’s weird I can’t get approved. I’ve been trying for weeks. Can anyone recommend an online community for dog owners that I can join? Labradoodle.org.uk was top of my list to join but no such luck there.

With Covid19 and many working for home or furloughed thousands it seems are suddenly adopting/buying puppies.  These forums could well be stopping new members joining waiting to see in a few months how many still want to join or dumped the unwanted new puppy?

Have you tried Champdogs?    Although primarily it was a forum for serious dog show people, it is an excellent place for getting really good information from people who really know and care about their dogs - not commercial breeders - but people who are passionate about their breeds.    It is not a "fluffy" forum for people who talk about their furkids and want to share photos and you may find people there being honest about the so-called "designer breeds" - but take a look there.   See https://forum.champdogs.co.uk/

Champdogs is usually very friendly. I think these days some of the best support groups are on Facebook. The ones I use are for specific purposes, but there are general ones too.

Facebook group - dog training advice and support.
You have to sign up to positive training methods, amd they expect people to read the training units and try to implement before asking any questions but the admins are qualified behaviourists.
The units cover everything from settling your pup in, onwards. It's very good for the basics and any behaviour issues but very training focussed so not the place for posting cute pics and chat.

Cute pics and chat,  maybe find a breed specific group on Faceache.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • Where I can find training to train my beagle adopted last month?

If you want face to face training look for one of the organisations that use positive methods and look at their list of trainers for one near you.
This is one, I think there are others if you search.
