With technology, now far easier to maintain a central database across an entire diverse finance group.

We had a DIP with Natwest but were declined at the application stage due to a 10 year old cc default with RBS who are now part of Natwest
Does anyone know which other lenders are accepting contracted overtime and bonuses? We are key workers not affected by the current situation but a lot of our income comes from overtime

Declined for a 10 year old default?! Really? :( this gives me zero hope
It was a default with the same lender that they were applying for a mortgage with.  It's not surprising really, banks do keep records of "bad customers" for far longer than these things show on your credit file.  It doesn't mean they or you can't get a mortgage with another lender, they (and you) just shouldn't be applying to lenders (or lenders within the same group) that they've "screwed over" in the past.
Ahh i see. I genuinely didn't know records could be kept so far back! (Naive!). Im hoping to apply next year when my default from a catalogue drops off. So when I saw this I panicked!
I've got a mortgage with a credit card default which is 4 years old. Don't worry x

Very surprised you got declined for a 10 year old default.
My partner was offered a mortgage last year with NatWest after defaulting on 2 credit cards 2013 and 1 overdraft.
Eventually partially settled and not on credit file at time of application.
CC and OD was with RBS banking group.
    Did you settle the default?
  • From what I remember the debt was sold to a dca then settled in full.
We are just disappointed because our credit files are now good but I hadn't factored in our previous credit issues would still cause problems. If this is the case we may have issues with hsbc also.
I will speak to a broker & see what our options are
