I’m looking for somewhere to stay for 4 people in the Manchester / Liverpool area next month and would love to support small independent businesses for the trip where possible, Including somewhere to stay, eating out and shopping / things to do etc. Any recommendations or websites please drop them so we can support the local economy there!

Greater Manchester is currently in lockdown, so maybe better to look towards Liverpool? Can't help you much with ideas, as I was always based in Bolton/Salford area!Sealed Pot Challenge no 035.

I don’t have any specific accommodation, but between the two cities you could look around Altrincham, nice area and lots of local businesses to eat/drink in. Metro into Manchester and a short drive to train to Liverpool (although probably quicker And cheaper to drive into both cities, especially as there are 4 of you). Or further South out of the Greater Manchester lockdown but still close you could look at Knutsford, train service to Manchester and lovely places to eat and drink.1

Warrington also between Manchester and Liverpool, some great places to see and shop in both cities.0

Have a think about New Brighton on The Wirral . its a decent stay . Nice area with lots of restaurants and pub grubs . A 20 minute train journey to Liverpool Central but Wirral itself have lots to offer . Liverpool centre isn't in lockdown and still has a decent scene for bars and things to do . Sadly the music hasn't been allowed as yet but next month may show differently . Music is what makes some cities unique and Liverpool ( and mankchester) are very good . Have a look at a Holiday Let called captains view in Wallasey . Good location with stunning views . I know the owner personally she promotes the area well and a wonderful place to stay . Within walking are a few decent restaurants and pubs . ( rockwood - Magic spice - eggy ferry - pilot boat - magazine .) all local business . New Brighton has its chain foodies and some locals . (habibi - marine terrace bar) Vale park if you have kids . Thanks for supporting local I applaude you . GF2

Just returned from a day/night out in town . Half one start so had enough . Music is back on at least on weekend day and night . The usual suspects are playing live music which is great for us . we love a good band or singer . some pubs rammed / some over rammed IMHO . Plenty being sensible . ate in Maray on bold street . amazing food . plenty others to choose from in town . We are the peoples republic of Merseyside so make up our own laws , I don't or didn't even know the ban was lifted for live musak .
