Renault and Nissan car emissions claim

I hear that nissan and Renault also failed the emissions tests! Please can you advise me on who best and most trusted to make a claim with in this instance if this is true?

Regards.

First of all work out what your actual losses are.  What have you actually lost?

Seems we are going to work our way though all the manufacturers ;)

I think pretty much all manufacturers would fail it with the majority of diesel engines.  It is only the very latest designs that have any chance of passing, and then they still need fiddles like wee injection to get through.
Emission regs killed the Detroit 2 strokes by 1998, and the heavy diesel manufacturers got fined millions in the US for failing to meet an impossible target, and using cheat software to get through the tests.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

Bear in mind VAG are the only people who have been conclusively found to have cheated on testing... and only in the US. VAG were about the only people trying to sell diesels in the US, because the US NOx limit was far, far stricter than elsewhere - they had no differentiation between petrol and diesel.

Several manufacturers are believed to have used defeat devices meaning real-world emissions are very different from the European lab test ones, but without breaking the letter of the testing.

This is just a law firm on a fishing expedition. Remember, NOBODY has been awarded a single penny in compensation for VAG yet - and everybody signing up is at risk of paying a share of the legal fees if the actions do not succeed...

And what an engine the Detroit Diesel 2 stroke truck engine was, managed to accidentaly get one running backwards for about a minute
    :-)

Yes, apparently if you flip the starter like a True Driving God, rather than hold it on, they bounce back off compression and merrily run backwards. The exhaust valve timing must be near enough symmetrical about tdc.

There were a couple of V16 (2 V8s bolted together back to back) generating sets on eBay a while ago for scrap money- so tempting to have one of those in the garage!

  • Hi ramseysdecor. I've just found your post when I came here searching with the same question, and I'd also be interested in anyone's experience. I've seen adverts for a couple of firms planning to do this. The only one I've looked at so far is PGMBM (nissanclaimlawyers.com) who say claimants will not be liable for costs (they will have insurance to cover this), it will be a no-win no-fee action, and they will take "up to 50%" of any sum awarded. IMO 50% of something I wasn't expecting is a bonus, but I don't know if other firms are offering a better deal. I can't see there's anything to lose, but am wary of something seeming too good to be true!

You'd better look at the ts and cs very carefully, as some people have been charged.  And remember to gain damages you have to have lost something quantifiable.  No such thing as a free lunch.
