Declined DIP due to credit..advice re credit checks please

Hi, We've just had a declined DIP from Nationwide due to credit. Both myself and my husband dot have any depts at all. We had a previous DIP prior to lockdown so don't understand why it has been declined?
Nationwide advised me to check our credit scores, they use Equifax and Transunion.
Ive just checked myself with Experian which my score came up 999. Near perfect. I need to check husbands.
Forgive me for sounding dumb but I don't know anything about credit checking... Is experian enough or do i also need to check the ones Nationwide use?
It just annoying having to set up accounts for all for both of us.
Thanks in advance for your advice

credit scores are not used by lenders, therefore useless. Check credit history of all 3 providers and see if any outstanding debt,s defaults e.t.c?
Always good practice to get and look at them before you apply to ensure no surprises."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

@csgohan4 are you using a broker or going direct? If direct i would get a broker who will be able to assist you. On checking credit files I use check my file as it shows all 3 agencies and anything adverse will show there. Its £15 per month however you can cancel once you have the full report.1

Thanks to you both for quick replies. I am using check my file. It says I'm not on the electoral role? I should be! Same address for last 11 years and DIP was agreed in february. Any advice?
ETA: Now it says I am on the electoral roll but I have adverse accounts what does this mean?0 -
Ok so one of the agencies says im not on the electoral role and also have adverse accounts with two of the agencies. It looks like an old store card which nothing is owed on and haven't used in years. Please can anyone advise how I can amend this? Feeling really disheartened as it didn't seem to be a problem when we had the DIP in Feb. Darn Covid!0

MSE credit report here is by experian, so that's one down

There’s no need to be snippy with the OP, she’s just trying to get advice. If you had no debts, why would you think that your credit history would be bad? Give them a break.OP, as it’s just a DIP they probably only did a soft search. Go and sort the store card out, make sure there’s no other problems and then reapply. You should be fine1

Your first paragraph is a prime reason why ignorance can cause major issues and why people post on here wondering why mortgage APP get declined. Snappy is one thing, but to ignore your own credit history and hope for the best can cause endless amount of stress when it could have been sorted before application.
I noticed multiple credit searches before my mortgage application before credit cards appeared in my post which I didn't apply for. Managed to call them up, cancel them and CIFAS put on my file to prevent any further fraud and remove the credit footprints.
To get this picked up during my mortgage would have been an absolute nightmare and like the OP would have been on here asking why.
There's a reason why good Broker's ask for your credit files irrespective of your perceived credit history
I wish the OP all the best and you have had the advice to move forward

That broker did input our address wrong though- so may have something to do with it.
I appreciate your advice and now hopefully with the assistance of our new broker, we can get this sorted and the sellers don't get fed up waiting! fingers crossed0
