What profile are they matching the job to?  I get the feeling the managers (X3) will see this as a potential opportunity to dump tasks onto you, tread carefully. Is there union involvement in this new post?

There was a Teams meeting with the 2 people incharge of managing the new role to discuss what it entails.
One thing to be aware of is the need to ensure that all three people have the same understanding of the role. If a job reports to two people then there's a risk of getting stuck between competing views, more so if the role is still developing.
This. Nothing worse than each manager having an essential, urgent and time-consuming task they want done NOW.

All too common. Best way to deal with that one is to put the decision making back in the lap of the 2 mangers who are competing for your attention, explaining your workload means you can't do both x and y at the same time and asking them to agree between themselves which is the priority.
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

This was my concern. The reason for this job being created was the 3 departments have no one to do the tasks they need doing, and it is a possibility the new role will involve doing all the 3 departments leg work

Oh I agree. Sadly it's not always that straightforward: Manager A asks you on Friday to do X, Y and Z on Monday, saying how urgent and important it is that this gets done, then goes on leave for a week. Manager B swans in on Monday morning and insists that A, B and C are far more important (even though you can see that missing the deadline for X, Y and Z is not a good idea).

After a while you learn to manage your managers, and predict what they're going to ask of you, and pre-empt deadlines before they get urgent. But it's a black art, and not one I'd want to practice again ...

So a little more came out about the job today after others asked for more info.

Does seem as others have pointed out a more Project Management type job. Next step is to see what project management really is as its something ive never done before
