new style contribution jobseekers allowance

I have put in a claim for the new style contribution job-seekers allowance after my furlough ended in July (I normally work as a supply teacher). I have just received a letter saying I haven't paid enough class 1 national insurance contributions to receive it. It says they used the 2018-2019 tax year. For that year I earned approximately £14000 and paid £1142.85 in national insurance (over 30 weeks). Are they correct to say I haven't paid enough national insurance?

They will have used both the 2017-18 and 2018-19 tax years. What was the situation in 2017-2018?
I think the figures you have given do satisfy the NI condition for 2018-19 assuming the earnings were evenly spread across the 30 weeks (but confess I’ve always found these contribution conditions hard to follow). If your earnings fluctuated a lot from week to week it’s much harder to tell.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
2017-18 year I hardly worked however my 2019-20 year is similar to above.0

Use a benefits calculator to check entitlement. A claim for UC will end any tax credits you may already be claiming.
