AA Renewal

Anyone had a good deal on their AA renewal? They offered me £166.80 for a year.

I used to be with them, for more than 25 years. (AA personal membership with roadside, relay and home start). Every year (in recent times) it was £130+ at renewal; every year the max I paid was £80 ... until the year they wouldn't reduce less than about £120 so I left. :)

Go somewhere else and save over £100.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.
  • Leave - we even phoned them up and they did not give us a deal - the price went up even though we had bought a newer car during the year. try green flag or others.

Lots of other options that offer good service at lower prices. Is there a reason you want to stay with the AA other than the fact they have a nice yellow logo with two big A's on it?

We changed to AutoAid, turned out better than the AA was. When my wife's van broke down I told them it needed towing and it would need a recovery truck to move it. Unlike the AA or RAC who would first send out a van after a couple of hours to just confirm exactly what I'd told them on the phone and then have you wait another 3-4hrs for a recovery truck to turn up AutoAid just sent out a recovery truck which arrived within an hour as promised who took it to the local garage we use. Also because they were a local recovery truck they knew the garage we were taking it to as they do transporting vehicles for them so the whole thing was infinitely easier than it would have been with either the AA or RAC

Another one to look at is 'Start Rescue', annual cover starting at around the £30 - £40 mark.
Not had to call them out yet myself but they seem to get positive reviews on Trust Pilot.

..just had my renewal come through, for some bizarre reason they have increased it by 43% from last year??...that's even more than the council tax and electric increases...:(  )

..the usual annual phone call now due. Shame they just can't be a little more realistic, but seems we have to keep playing these games...

For me, this option was simply unbeatable. Personal joint cover, full European, no vehicle age limit - and including a 3.5t camper van. Nobody else comes close at the price - even JUST looking at the breakdown cover. Add in the full-world travel insurance, and it's a no-brainer.
