Hi all,
We are East Midlands based but, after completing a survey, Simple Heating in Liverpool have just told us that we qualify for a free boiler and underfloor insulation as part of the Flex scheme.
Seems a bit good to be true as we do not receive benefits and are not living in fuel poverty.
Any advice please before we decide whether or not to go ahead with the work?
Thank you!

    From their website:

Simple Heating is a member of The Home Heating Cost Reduction Obligation (HHCRO) scheme, also known as “the Affordable Warmth Obligation”. This scheme provides support to eligible applicants, enabling them to reduce the cost of heating their property by installing energy efficient measures.

The grant scheme is focused initially on vulnerable and low-income households in a bid to reduce UK instances of fuel poverty. If you are eligible you may get help with the cost of:

    • insulation work, for example to your loft or cavity walls
    • replacing or repairing your boiler – or other upgrades to your heating
Am I eligible for funding to help with my energy costs?

You might be eligible for help if you live in private housing and receive one of the following benefits:

    • Child Tax Credit
    • Working Tax Credit
    • Universal Credit
    • Pension Guarantee Credit – you will not be eligible if you only claim Pension Savings Credit
    • Income Support
    • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
    • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
    • Disability Living Allowance
    • Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
    • Attendance Allowance
    • Carer’s Allowance
    • Severe Disablement Allowance
    • Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefits
    • War Pensions Mobility Supplement
    • Constant Attendance Allowance
    • Armed Forces Independence Payment
    • Child Benefit
I would get them to put in writing that there will be no additional fees if you apply. The 'you may get help' comment would make me wary.

  • We have it in writing that we will be getting a free boiler and under floor insulation for free.
It makes me nervous about the quality of the work.
