NOW TV and Virgin switching questions

Hi.
We're thinking of switching to Now TV as our Virgin contract is up (and they are unwilling to offer an acceptable new deal).
I just have a few of quick questions which might seem obvious to some.
Firstly, is Now TV (the actual channels including The SkySports pass etc.) on devices only (laptop etc)? As in it won't actually be running on the TV and controlled via a normal TV remote?

Secondly, as I'm switching from Virgin I read something about needing an engineer to come if I wanted to say switch to BT as Virgin use different cables or something. But there's no mention of this on the Now TV website. I just checked and currently everything seems to be coming from the white Virgin cable into the hub - which is then connected to the TV and Phone. I'm just wondering how this would work.

Thirdly.  As there are 3 different broadband packages  3.5-8.0,  36.2-37.1, and 58.7-74.2 estimated downloads I'm unsure of if I'd need to pay for the higher numbers to watch NOW TV.

Any help and advice much appreciated.

If you don't have a traditional phone line connected to your house then someone will need to come round and connect one.  Virgin have their own infrastructure.  Other ISP's use Openreach infrastructure.
The TV element of NowTV can be accessed via a computer, a NowTV stick, other set top box/stick with the NowTV app, a phone with the NowTV app (can be shown on a TV if you have a Chromecast).
Any of the packages should let you access the TV element but the two higher speed packages would be better for streaming, especially if other people are accessing the internet at the same time.

I know that LG and Samsung smart TVs have the Now TV app so I expect most others will.
As for the higher speeds, I'd certainly consider at least the middle one given that:
    1) It's fibre to the cabinet and not traditional ADSL which the first will be so will be much better and able to provide higher speeds if you're a long way from the exchange
    2) When you're watching NowTV it uses the internet and no doubt there'll be plenty of times when someone will want to do something online the same time as NowTV is being used.

LG are discontinuing the NOW TV app from 24th August!!  Can't comment if Samsung are doing the same.
