Garage smashed fuel tank during tyre change

Basically you need to get as much evidence as possible. Can only really think of photographing the tank.
Then you need to give the garage an opportunity to sort it out.
Tell the garage that if they don't sort it you will take it elsewhere and send them the bill.
Get it fixed elsewhere.
Take them to the small claims court for the cost. You would have to convince a judge that they caused the damage.0 -
Are you for serious now? Is it so hard to notice that English is not my first language so I could write something in a messed way... You forgot to bold the last few words. "my partner was filling up the whole tank every few days and paying by card so his account showing since it happend he was filling up for f10." It means he was filling up the whole tank every few days before it happend and since it happend he was filling up for max f10" Is it really so hard to get it? Anyway as I've said. There is no point to ask for an advice here as there is to many grumpy people, asking thousand questions not related to the subject and judging...Takmon said:
Well make your mind up first your saying that your partner was filling the whole tank every few days and now...DariaEs said:
It's Toyota RAV4, my partner grew up in garage and he knows his onions. There is even a mark from the jack on the tank. Of cours I have a proof, my partner was filling up the whole tank every few days and paying by card so his account showing since it happend he was filling up for f10. He has a pictures of a jack's in the garage and I do believe it might be confirmed by the other garage how the damage was done.ElephantBoy57 said:DariaEs said:Hi guys, I am having huge problem as over a month ago I went to local garage to change my tires. Day after I got the car back I've noticed that fuel is leaking. Then I had a look underneath the car and realised that the fuel tank is smashed from a jack. What sort of car is it? Changing tyres is quite an easy thing, I would be surprised if it was done changing your tyres. You have zero proof that is when it happened.
I paid for tyres by debit card
But now your saying they only filled up a few quid... so you have completely changed your story and your wondering why people are questioning you...DariaEs said:Listen guys, I dont understand why are you so mean. I asked for more legal advice and you started speculating if it actually happend or whatever else.as I know It was hydraulic jack, The One with long hand and wheels. He Just lifted the car carelessly and there is a bent in the tank and the seal gone. I hope you never going to be in situation where you have to do what you shouldnt as you have no other options. Now we got a second car. He was filling up the petrol for a few quids as WE HAD to use the car. Thanks for worrying about the tires. They are fine... Now I See I am not gonna find any proper advice amongst people like you who knows their best...
Thank to all of you whose said something helpful. Probably will try to get a chargeback first and if not I will go to small claim court.0 -
It's a funny forum DariaEs. The same people seem to spend all their life on the forum. They normally work or have worked in the motor industry. Unsuspecting individuals post their problems hoping for good advice from fellow consumers but all they get is the same abuse that the garage is giving them. Garages cause all sorts of problems but the regulars just say it's unrelated. If you tell a judge that you took your car into a garage and they caused a petrol leak by jacking under the petrol tank and you have a photo of damage caused by the jack you have a reasonable chance of winning. The judge isn't an expert though and they can be quite random in their decisions.0

Think were all flabbergasted that someone would do such a dangerous thing to drive a car that they knew was leaking fuel.
Ps what is f10?

Because there isn't one......
How is anyone supposed to know what your 1st language is? Plenty of English speaking people's posts make no sense.
So filling up for £10 before & £10 after damage? This proves what?
The main point is if the tank was leaking after they changed the tyre. How come it was not noticed the same day or certainly the next morning when there was fuel over the road?Life in the slow lane0 -
Not true. I wouldn't know the first thing about where to put a spanner or similar in an engine bay, so unlike you, I don't tell people to service their own cars using a youtube instruction video. It's fine to disagree with others, but using this put down repetitively is getting tiresome.fred246 said:It's a funny forum DariaEs. The same people seem to spend all their life on the forum. "They don't agree with me, and since I can't possibly be wrong, THEY MUST BE TRYING TO SUPPRESS THE TRUTH!"0 -
