Greater Manchester where to buy
Hi
I have posted on this forum in the past looking
for advice and found it very helpful however due to various reasons I didn't
end up moving.
I am looking to buy a house. (I was originally looking for an apartment however after living in one and disliking it I've realised that I much prefer living in a house, having a garden etc.)
Could anyone recommend areas in Greater
Manchester to live? I would like a 2 (or more) bedroom house. My budget is
approx. £160-165k.
Ideally I would love to live in Stretford, but I am aware that on my budget I would be unlikely to get a house. Long-term I would like to live in Stretford or Sale so I would like to live as close to those areas as possible. I have also looked into shared ownership/help to buy houses in Stretford but I haven't seen any within my budget.
My main requirements are close to transport to travel to Manchester, garden/courtyard and for there to at least be on street parking.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Many thanks

I would look into areas like Eccles or Levenshulme. Eccles is up and coming and is great for commuting, likewise with Levenshulme

I will look at Eccles as it has the tram. Are there any areas in particular that are worth looking into? Eccles is much bigger than I realised it was.ascdef12345 said:I would look into areas like Eccles or Levenshulme. Eccles is up and coming and is great for commuting, likewise with Levenshulme
Levenshulme seems to be quite competitive.0 -
For Eccles you need to be careful - for such a small area there is quite a difference in what the locality is like. I would say try and stay around the hospital. Towards Monton is good but might be out your price range. Definitely have a look around.amethyst39 said:

Levenshulme is good too, with a lot of amenities on the A6, but much busier than Eccles. The Antiques Centre is fab for a whiling away a bit of time!1 -
I will have a look around the hospital and see what I can find. I did always love the look of the houses round there when I was youngerSallyDucati said:

I have heard good things about Monton but I imagine it is out of my price range.
I did view a few houses in Peel Green last year but didn't make an offer on either in the end.
Thank you!

Lostock, ‘Stretford Marina’, Gorse Hill, Northern Moor and occasionally Sale Moor (esp. if don’t mind a doer upper) would be my recommendations. Market is mental at the moment but lots of houses about to choose from.1

And Skelton Rd in Stretford looks good but does need everything doing. But equally hasn’t sold as incredibly quickly as a lot do in the area so could be got for your budget? I’ve basically used my saved search areas from my recent house hunting and I have lived in the area for a very long time.1

Have you found a house now? If so congratulations, I hope you enjoy your new home
