Renault Scenic handbrake woes

My Reanault Scenic (2004) has always ticked along nicely. Yesterday it had a new coil spring and today it was obviously feeling put out about it!

The electric handbrake went from working perfectly normally to nothing at all. No whirring of the 2 electric motors beneath the car, just a handle that now feels like it’s doing nothing, error messages and the error beeping noise.

I can’t find out which fuse it is and there is nothing obviously broken.

Does anyone know what I could check? I know there is some sort of connection under the passenger seat but it hasn’t stopped raining yet...

thank you

Yes, that's how I found out there are 4 different fuse boxes and a connection under the passenger seat.

    Code reader?  What codes?

Flash code on the switch itself?  (not sure on this) But a proper code reader will work.

    What’s a code reader?

The local (highly regarded) auto electricians would not touch it today.

It's a box that you plug in, to ask the car what IT thinks is wrong...

Without that, you're guessing. And guessing can get expensive.

Hope it's just a fuse needing replaced. My electric handbrake was close to ceasing. £1500 to replace the rear calipers. New car has manual handbrake. Liked my Passat, would have bought another, but as they all have electric handbrakes I'll not be buying another one.

You don't want handbrake woes.  You want handbrake whoas.
