How could EON get it so wrong

In November last year I switched from OVO energy to EON as OVO wanted to charge me £128 per month for dual fuel and MSE emailed me to tell me I would be better off with EON who would only charge me £107 per month which I have been paying. I contacted EON in February this year as I was having problems getting a reading on my smart meter fitted by OVO for Economy 7 which I am on. The lady on the online chat said that she would arrange for a meter reader to call, I am fairly certain that someone has accessed my Electricity meter since then as the door was left open. I checked my bills yesterday, I am now over £1,000 in debt and they have been estimating my bills since I contacted them in February to say I couldn`t read the meter. How can they possibly have estimated my usage at £107 per month when in the 10 months that I have been with them it appears that I should have been paying at least £207. I contacted online chat yesterday and explained yet again that I cannot get both a day and a night reading on my meter having tried countless times. I have now written to EON customer services to check my meter, I just hope and pray that it is the meter that is incorrect but if it isn`t how did they get the original figure of £107 a month so terribly wrong?

Search online for videos of your meter name and model. Or post a video here of your efforts at reading it. Bills (with personal info redacted) would also help. How much do your bank statements show you have paid?0

The £107 will have been based on the consumption figures you gave them - presumably from the actual readings from your OVO bills.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0
