End of Furlough
Denta
Hi I am a dental nurse employed by a NHS dental practice. I have been furlouged since March due to my 70 years of age and also my 84 year old husband who has Parkinson's. (I have given 54 years of service to the NHS in dental nursing) What happens to me when furlough ends?? can I sign on as sickness benefit with DWP? as I do not pass the risk assessment to be in the practice to work. My GP has confirmed to me that it is correct that I do not go into work at the practice. Will I just have no money coming in then until this is all over?? Thanks for any advice

I have no wish to retire. I am a very talented dental nurse specialising in helping anxious patients get through their treatment. I just wondered what my options are while I wait to be allowed back into the practice safely. Could I claim SSP?0

SSP can be claimed with a fit note from your GP and you'll need to give that ti your employer. https://www.gov.uk/statutory-sick-pay/eligibility

Is this relevant to you? It looks on a quick glance as though you could, with your surgery's agreement, 'retire' and claim your pension but still return to work afterwards.
