Tesco Credit Card - Contactless but constant declines/checks
Comments

Tesco seem to be worst for asking for pin - the problem I find is that the machine declines it instead of just asking for insert card / pin confirmation. I wish Tesco would use GooglePay, would make life a whole lot easier.

I think most banks increased the frequency with which you are prompted to enter your pin last September when the FCA Strong Customer Authentication rules came in to play. According to the email Starling bank sent me at the time, this basically meant that banks were expected to make you enter your pin after 5 consecutive contactless transactions or £135 of spending whichever comes first. The spend limit then went up at the time they increased the contactless limit to £45 but can’t remember how much too. Certain transactions including public transit ticket purchases were exempted from the additional verification rules. Paying using GPay, Apple Pay or other similar app where you have unlocked your phone with your fingerprint or facial recognition also resets the transaction count back to zero.0
