Sorry if this isnt right place - I've been reading all guides and confusing myself. In short:
1. Booked holiday to Spain back in Feb with HOLIDAYGEMS. Chose ryanair flight and accommodation.
2. Booked insurance precovid with cover4you
3. We are due to go 18th Aug. I cant go and quarantine.  Holiday gems not cancelled holiday even though I know hotel not open.
4. I sent escalation email as heard nothing. Email today stating holiday going ahead as planned. Responsibility for flights lies with ryanair (even though booked with holiday company). They dont mention accommodation.  Offer alternative flights.
5. Sharp email back from me asking what exactly their responsibilities are.  When will they cancel?(I innocently thought because of fco advice they would need to cancel holiday?)
6. Phoned insurance I am covered for both elements because of fco advice. However if I get offered anything which theoretically ryanair have (even if its flights pre dec 2020) then I prob wouldn't have a valid claim.
I'm honestly pulling my hair out - we are talking 4k. Trying to get my head around all the scenarios. Has anybody got any advice as this must be happening to loads of people??
Thanks in advance 🙏

Holiday Gems are contractually obliged to offer alternative acccomodation. Be a lot of upset people if they simply cancelled holidays on the cuff. There'll be many other other people heading to the same destination.

If your holiday is going ahead and you don't want to go, then your only option is travel insurance.

Sharp emails won't change the company's responsibilities. However, soft ones may earn some goodwill.

Thanks both. I understand.  I want to understand my next steps and their obligations.  I was obviously naive to thing that because of fco advice it wouldn't go ahead. The hotel is closed. I'm due to go 18th aug. Not been offered alternative yet (or told) what would you think is a reasonable time period?
I need to get them to put into writing they wont cancel I understand that bit of it!
    Thanks in advance
