I have a small amount in Kames Ethical equity, otherwise most is invested into VGLS80 and HSBC GD.
It is heavily in equities, UK focused mid cap so would class as high risk.Only started with it a few months back and performance so far isn't great (down 8%) but only course only a fraction of the time I will hold it so hopefully that reverses over time.I was attracted to it as it seemed to offer genuine ESG with little overlap with my other funds.0 -
Vanguard's ESG funds still include companies like Amazon & Google who don't pay their taxes. So not exactly socially responsible.2

Amazon - Employee relations somewhat questionable as well.ZeroSum said:Vanguard's ESG funds still include companies like Amazon & Google who don't pay their taxes. So not exactly socially responsible.0 -
I seem to recall a fund house (can't remember which one) telling me that Amazon was in their ESG holdings due to their ability for small businesses to use their platform, which is apparently a good thing.0

Somebody dredge Edward Colsten out of the Avon, all is forgiven. He supported and enabled loads of small businesses, by selling slaves to them.Wildsound said:I seem to recall a fund house (can't remember which one) telling me that Amazon was in their ESG holdings due to their ability for small businesses to use their platform, which is apparently a good thing.

You are right.dont_look_now said:richardsmith911 said:I guess pure was a bit vague and most companies are trying to go more sustainable and climate-friendly but it's not an overnight transition. I just want to find a fund that is in line with this and can give back strong returns? - https://www.etfexpress.com/2020/08/13/288536/2020-what-does-global-pandemic-teach-us-about-esg-investingWell, you're still being a bit vague
I said that you need to investigate whether the ESG funds you're considering have an approach to ESG which matches what you want. But first you need to know what you want
There's nothing wrong with not knowing what you want. But sometimes, you need to come to a decision about it.0 -
Great thread! Greenwashing is common in 'ESG' funds making it pretty difficult to know where to invest without harming the planet.
