Sorry I don't know how to quote on here but to satisfy the First Contribution Condition:
1. the claimant must have paid Class 1 contributions in respect of one (“the base year”) of the last two complete tax years before the beginning of the relevant benefit year
2. Class 1 contributions must have been paid before the week that the claimant claims JSA
3. the claimant must have had relevant earnings for the base year on which the Class 1 contributions have been paid or treated as paid of at least 26 times the LEL for that tax year.
***
The Lower Earnings Limit is £120 per week and the Primary Threshold is £183.
***
To satisfy 1., does the employee just need to have earned above £183 in just one of the weeks? eg earn £193 and pay £1.20 contribution.
To satisfy 2., does "before the week" mean "in the week before" the date of the claim?
To satisfy 3., is the minimum that the employee needs to earn: £120 * 26 = £3,120?
***
Thank you

If you've not done 3 you won't get it. By meeting 3 you've automatically had to meet 1 and 2 because it's not possible to meet 3 without meeting the requirements for 1 and 2.It isn't £3120 in total you need to have earned in any one year, it's 26 separate weeks of at least £120.

As an example, if you earn £125 per week for 26 weeks, as you wouldn't pay any contribution, would you still satisfy 1?0 -
