Default date and amount

Options
Hi,
I have a default on my credit file it is money I owe to a mobile company, my problem is the default date seems wrong to me also the amount. The debt was sold on and I have a payment plan in place which I have been making regular payments too.

I do not have a contract copy or bills and I never received a default notice from the original company, the only think I can think of is to why I never received this is possibly my details were wrong I have asked the debt collector for a copy of the default notice they said they have no obligation to provide me with one. Is there any way to get this as original company can't provide as its no longer a account with them?

Thanks in advance
