Electrician has added £20 charge for paying by credit card

    Fair doesnt have anything to do with it. It is obviously unfair that those who pay by credit card should pay less than people who pay by other means.

    Either way you probably lose.
    He may simply decline to accept payment by card.
    He may capitulate. If so he won’t come back should you need further work or indeed if something goes wrong with this job.
    If you want to pay by card you should probably pay the fee.
